A cannabis grower has been placed on a community payback order under supervision and ordered to do unpaid work.
Anthony Anderson was caught by police after plumbers were called to his flat to investigate a leak which was affecting his downstairs neighbours’ property.
Anderson, 33, of Pitalpin Court, openly admitted the plantation to police after he heard them banging on his door at 2.30am.
He opened the door and welcomed them in, fiscal depute Kate Irwin told Dundee Sheriff Court, and the smell of the plants led police to his plantation.
The fiscal said plumbers were called by the downstairs neighbours after water started coming through their ceiling from Anderson’s flat.
Ms Irwin said there were 18 cannabis plants in total, eight of them mature plants and 10 saplings.
Anderson admitted producing the cannabis plantation at his flat on February 2.
Sheriff Lorna Drummond placed Anderson on a community payback order for 18 months.
She added that he would be under supervision and also ordered him to complete 180 hours of unpaid work in the community as part of the order.
