Ian Hamilton, of Soapwork Lane House, Soapwork Lane, has been jailed for a shoplifting offence.
Hamilton admitted that on December 29 2017, at Boots on Albert Street, he stole a quantity of razors and razor blades while on bail.
Solicitor Anika Jethwa told Dundee Sheriff Court that Hamilton, who is serving a 10-month-sentence, had committed the offence to buy heroin as he couldn’t afford to travel to Perth to get his methadone prescription.
She said he had been self-medicating with heroin and had ended up homeless after his mother suffered an aneurism and was taken to hospital.
The 43-year-old was jailed for two months, to run consecutively to his current sentence, by Sheriff John Rafferty.
