A woman has been jailed for two years after she admitted possessing heroin with intent to supply.
Ashley Cussick, 42, a prisoner at Cornton Vale, was found with diamorphine worth between £800 and a maximum of £1,550 in a flat in Charleston on March 21.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court that police arrived at the house at Buttars Loan with a search warrant.
Two other people were in the house and a set of scales was recovered.
She said the accused returned to the house at around 7.20pm that night and was detained by police officers.
As they were about to search her, the fiscal said, they asked her if she had anything in her pockets which could harm them and she replied: “Kit. I just got it” – a reference to diamorphine.
The accused then told police: “I’m not a user.”
Her solicitor, David Duncan, described that claim as “entirely false”.
Mr Duncan told the court that Cussick had been a long-time heroin abuser.
She is currently serving a prison sentence for a heroin offence, with her earliest date for release being July 14.
Mr Duncan told Sheriff Alastair Carmichael that Cussick had committed that offence six days after appearing in court on the charge she was now facing.
“She is clearly entrenched in that lifestyle,” he said.
“She hopes the prison sentence she is about to get will provide a period of abstinence that will improve her condition.”
Sheriff Carmichael told Cussick a custodial sentence was inevitable.
He added that he had seen cases like hers being prosecuted in the High Court.
He jailed her for 24 months.
