A man who was more than six times the drink-drive limit fell off his quad bike in front of watching police officers.
Thomas Jones was also uninsured and driving without L-plates on a provisional licence, Dundee Sheriff Court heard.
Sheriff John Rafferty fined and banned Jones and also placed him on a community payback order under supervision for 18 months when he appeared for sentence.
Jones, 39, of Grampian Gardens, previously admitted three charges that, at Grampian Gardens on April 9, he used an unregistered quad bike without insurance, without a licence and without L-plates on a machine more powerful than was permitted on a provisional licence, and drove with excess alcohol (136 mics).
Fiscal depute Lynne Mannion told the court that police officers in a marked vehicle watched as the accused attempted a manoeuvre but fell off.
Checks showed Jones was uninsured and held only a provisional licence. Officers smelled alcohol and a breathalyser test proved positive.
Sheriff Rafferty disqualified him from driving for 27 months and fined him £330, telling him he was suitable for the drink-driving rehabilitation course which, if successful, would reduce his period of disqualification to 22 months.
The quad bike was forfeited.
