A 20-year-old man was jailed for 165 days by Sheriff John Rafferty at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Liam Thompson, of Ladywell Avenue, had previously admitted possessing cannabis resin and cannabis at Hilltown on September 28 last year, while on bail.
He also admitted that on November 9 last year at Rainbow Music Store, Cowgate, he repeatedly struck the window with a hammer and attempted to break into the shop with intent to steal, also while he was on bail.
Sheriff Rafferty was told Thompson had been jailed earlier this month for a total of 41 months by Sheriff Alastair Brown for charges of housebreaking and assaulting a shopkeeper.
Sheriff Rafferty told him the new sentence would run consecutively to that sentence.
