Kieren McAnearney, 24, admitted driving a car while disqualified and without insurance.
McAnearney, of Ladywell Avenue, passed officers who were attending another incident on Brown Constable Street on March 27 at around 2pm, while at the wheel of a black Honda motor car.
Officers later attended at his home address, where it was established that he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a licence.
Sheriff John Rafferty ordered that McAnearney, who had been in custody since March 28, continue to be remanded as there was a “substantial risk” of him reoffending.
His sentence was deferred until May 15.
