A disqualified and uninsured driver was found with a four-year-old child not properly secured in the front seat of his car.
Ryan Maich, 22, of Beauly Crescent, in Dundee, was jailed by Sheriff Derek Reekie after admitting three charges, including carrying a child under 12 in the front seat of his car without a proper seatbelt.
Maich also admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.
Fiscal depute Marie Irvine said police officers stopped Maich due to his manner of driving, whereupon he immediately told them he was disqualified.
There was a rear seat passenger, but in the front a four-year-old child was sitting without properly wearing a seatbelt.
Solicitor David Duncan said the child had originally been restrained properly but had climbed out of it.
Sheriff Reekie told Maich his driving was “appalling” and said he would not consider giving him bail.
He said having a child in the front seat of a car without a proper restraint was a serious matter, especially as a disqualified and uninsured driver.
He jailed Maich for 200 days and disqualified him from driving for five months.
