A man who threatened to “pluck” a staff member’s eyes out at a homeless hostel has been jailed for more than eight months.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Stephen Byers, 29, of no fixed abode, admitted making the comment after “losing his temper” when he thought he wasn’t being treated fairly by staff at the Salvation Army Hostel, in Ward Road, and the Lily Walker Centre.
He admitted that on March 20, at both homeless units, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, behaved aggressively and uttered threats to staff.
He further admitted that, at police HQ, Bell Street, he resisted arrest by three officers, struggled violently with them and repeatedly lashed out with his legs in an attempt to prevent arrest.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael ordered him to return to prison for the 100-day unexpired portion of a previous sentence. He also jailed Byers for a further five months.
