Robert Brand, 29, of Craigmore Street, was placed on a restriction of liberty order.
Brand admitted that on October 31 last year, at Tesco on Kingsway West, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, shouted and swore, acted in an aggressive manner and challenged staff to fight, uttered threats and threw packs of cosmetics.
He also admitted having a metal hook in the store.
He must stay at home between 7pm-7am for 10 weeks.
