A man has appeared in court accused of attacking another man with an axe before robbing him of cash, bank cards and a bus pass.
Terry Barr, of Thurso Gardens, is also alleged to have swallowed white tablets concealed inside a chocolate egg as he was being driven to police headquarters in Bell Street following his arrest.
Barr, 28, appeared in private before Sheriff George Way at Dundee Sheriff Court on a petition alleging assault and robbery with an offensive weapon, as well as drugs offences.
He is alleged to have assaulted Ross Henderson, grabbed him by the neck, struck him on the hand with an axe, demanded he give him his wallet and robbed him of £50 in cash, a bank card, a bus pass and a council card.
He is also alleged to have possessed an offensive weapon, namely an axe or similar implement.
The incident is said to have happened at Deveron Crescent, in Menzieshill, on March 25. Prosecutors also allege that Barr, while in a police vehicle en route to Bell Street police HQ, swallowed the partial contents of a chocolate egg which contained white tablets and attempted to pervert the course of justice on the same date, while under arrest.
He is further charged with possessing cannabis at police HQ on the same date.
Barr made no plea and there was no motion from the Crown to fully commit him for trial.
He was granted bail while the case was continued.
