A drug dealer was snared by police who bought tablets from him in an undercover operation.
However, the sting resulted in the dealer only being able to supply etizolam to drugs cops instead of the expected benzodiazepines.
Graeme Jackson, 38, of Kinghorn Road, was fined £150 for being concerned in the supply of the Class C drug in Dundonald Street, Kinghorne Road and Coldside Road on various occasions between November 17-27 last year.
Fiscal depute Marie Irvine told the court undercover officers obtained the drug after they sent messages and made contact in person with Jackson.
She said payment had been made for the drugs by the officers.
Solicitor Andy Lyall said he had looked very carefully into whether the actions of the police actions had amounted to entrapment.
He said instead of the Class C benzodiazepines the police were after, along with the people supplying them, they were given etizolam.
Mr Lyall said Jackson received payments of £20 on one occasion and £10 on at least another occasion.
“He was unable to source the drugs they were interested in,” he added.
