A man accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend by biting her and ransacking a house on the same date appeared in private before Sheriff Tom Hughes.
Reece Savery, 25, of Haldane Terrace, is alleged to have, on March 21, at Alloway Terrace, assaulted his partner, Elisa Lorenzo, who was then pregnant, placed his hand over her mouth and nose, restricting her breathing, bitten her on the face, seized her mobile phone, seized her by the hair, punched her on the head, pushed her and thrown her to the ground.
He is also accused of threatening or abusive behaviour likely to cause fear or alarm, shouting and swearing, forcing open a locked door, damaging it, and overturning a bed, drawers and a couch, placing Ms Lorenza in a state of fear and alarm.
He made no plea and the case was continued for further examination.
He was granted bail.
