A Dundee man has denied attempting to perform a citizen’s arrest on a police officer who was in the process of arresting him.
John Simpson, 49, of Byron Crescent, denies that, at his home on March 15 last year, he assaulted Detective Sergeant Ross Clark, then in the execution of his duty, by seizing him on the body.
He further denies resisting arrest from Sgt Clark and PC Jillian Lockhart at the same address and on the same date.
Simpson is alleged to have said that he was “a Scottish sovereign, a free man of the land” and had “no respect for the police” while struggling with the officers.
Trial will take place on May 14.
