A man is to stand trial accused of demanding that his pregnant partner get an abortion, before pushing her down a flight of stairs.
Thomas Tole is alleged to have attacked the woman at an address in Mill o’ Mains, Dundee.
It is alleged he first shouted, swore and acted in an aggressive manner towards her and demanded she abort her unborn child on May 11 last year.
Tole is alleged to have then attacked the 14 weeks’ pregnant woman by grabbing her head, body and hair, and pushing her down a flight of stairs.
He is then said to have attacked her again before pursuing her outside the house and repeatedly striking her head, then dragging her back inside.
A further charge alleges he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner later the same day at police HQ in Dundee.
It is also alleged that, on January 1 this year, he assaulted the same woman by repeatedly kicking her on the body, striking her head, biting her body, seizing her throat and pressing his foot against her throat. He is further accused of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
A sixth charge alleges he breached bail on January 1 this year by entering the street where he originally attacked the woman.
Tole, 26, from Dundee, denied a total of six charges on indictment during a pre-trial hearing at the city’s sheriff court.
Sheriff Alastair Brown continued the case to a trial date on April 16.
