Former Dundee councillor Craig Melville has been found guilty of sending hateful racist messages to his Muslim colleague.
Ex-SNP Councillor Melville, 37, of Marlee Road, Broughty Ferry, had denied the charge that,
between November 13 and 15, 2015 he sent a number of text messages to Nadia El-Nakla that contained threatening, abusive and derogatory remarks regarding Muslims to her from his home and elsewhere in Dundee.
The charge was also of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner likely to cause fear or alarm, and that the offence was aggravated by religious prejudice.
But Sheriff Scott Pattison delivered a guilty verdict and he was fined £1,000.
