A man has been jailed after being found guilty by a jury of possessing a knife in a public place.
Charles Barr, 24, a prisoner at HMP Grampian, had denied possessing the knife at Arklay Street on October 1.
Following the verdict, fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson told the court that Barr, who has a number of previous convictions for assault and robbery, was on early release from prison with an unexpired portion of 111 days after being convicted of possessing offensive weapons including a hammer and a pool cue.
Solicitor Ian Houston said Barr had denied the offence and continued to deny it.
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael said he would send Barr back to prison to serve two months of his unexpired portion and sentenced him to a further three months to start at the end of that period.
He also granted a Crown motion for two knives to be forfeited.
