A pervert has admitted having more than 4,000 indecent images of children on his computer.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, David Eggleston, 54, of Seafield Road, admitted that between January 2012 and August 2016, at home, he took or permitted to be taken, or made indecent photographs or pseudo photographs of children.
The court heart that more than 300 of the images were of the most explicit category.
Egglestion was placed on the sex offenders register by Sheriff Alastair Carmichael and sentence was deferred for social work reports and a Tay Project assessment.
Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin said: “On December 16, Police Scotland received intelligence to suggest indecent images of children had been uploaded to the internet from the locus.”
She said police went to Eggleston’s home on December 29 2016 and when the accused answered the door to police, he invited them in after they produced a warrant.
Eggleston’s home was searched and a Dell laptop and three external hard drives, along with a black Seagate external hard drive, USB, a black computer tower and a Maxter hard drive were recovered and taken to police HQ for technical analysis.
Ms Gilmartin said: “A number of the devices were found to have indecent images of children within unallocated clusters. The images were inaccessible to the accused.
“However, their presence indicates that at one time they were accessible, but have since been deleted.”
File-sharing software was also recovered from the devices.
She said analysis of the equipment and file-sharing software revealed that there was a total of 4,212 indecent images of children and three indecent videos of children.
Of these, 359 were category A, 230 were category B while the remaining 3,623 were category C.
Solicitor Nicola Brown said Eggleston had immediately cooperated with police when they arrived with a warrant and said due to the nature of the crime the sheriff would require reports before sentencing him.
Sheriff Carmichael deferred sentence until March 13 and Eggleston was granted bail.
