Stevie Devlin, of Gardner Street, was jailed for nine months for two assaults last year. But the 30-year-old won an appeal at the Court of Criminal Appeal in Edinburgh and will now do unpaid work instead. Devlin admitted assaulting Carrie Jones by seizing her by the neck and hitting her on the head with a bottle at the Balcony Bar, Ward Road, on May 5. She also admitted assaulting Fiona Whitcombe at Seagate on June 25, while she was on bail. Lawyer Richard Gray previously told Dundee Sheriff Court his client had no explanation for why she had behaved in such a way on the two occasions. Devlin’s jail sentence was rescinded and she was instead ordered to carry out 270 hours of unpaid work. She was also placed under supervision for 18 months and given a conduct requirement.
