A 32-year-old man has been remanded for psychiatric assessment after appearing in private before Sheriff Alastair Carmichael charged with severing a woman’s hand with a knife.
Stephen Brisbane, of no fixed abode, is alleged to have cut off Sandra McGowan’s right hand with a knife, causing permanent impairment, permanent disfigurement and to the danger of her life in South Road, Dundee on February 14.
He made no plea when he appeared briefly at Dundee Sheriff Court where he was represented by solicitor advocate Kris Gilmartin.
The case was continued for further examination and the crown applied for a psychiatric assessment order, which was granted by Sheriff Carmichael.
Brisbane is expected to appear again at Dundee Sheriff Court next week.
