An uninsured driver who drove dangerously and smashed into two cars in Broughty Ferry was placed on a community payback order at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Shaunn Burnett, 24, of Salton Crescent, was also disqualified from driving and ordered to resit the advanced driving test.
Burnett admitted that he drove dangerously at excessive speed for the road and conditions, failed to reduce speed in accordance with stationery traffic and collided with the rear of a car at Queen Street on September 30.
He then entered the opposing carriageway and struck an oncoming vehicle head-on, the court was told.
The vehicles were damaged in the crash.
Sheriff Alastair Brown ordered Burnett to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and banned him from driving for 12 months.
