A Dundee woman has appeared in court accused of falsely claiming benefits and tax credits totalling more than £68,000.
Samantha Tribe, of Fintry Crescent, appeared on petition at a private hearing before Sheriff Tom Hughes.
She faces three charges of making false claims to Dundee City Council for housing benefit and council tax benefit and fraudulently claiming working tax credit and child tax credit.
The alleged offences date back more than a decade.
Tribe is accused of falsely claiming housing benefit and council tax benefit at the city’s Balmoral Terrace and Fintry Crescent between January 29 and May 6 2007.
It is alleged that she claimed to live alone and not to have a partner when she actually had a live-in partner and falsely obtained benefits totalling £568.70 to which she was not entitled.
The 48-year-old is also accused of falsely claiming and obtaining housing benefit and council tax benefit totalling £18,900 and £1,876.15 respectively to which she was not entitled, at the same addresses, between June 18 2007 and April 12 2015.
Court documents also allege that between April 6 2011 and April 2 2015, through fraudulent activity, Tribe declared that she was a single parent when she had been maintaining a common household with Edward Atkinson.
She allegedly fraudulently obtained working tax credit and child tax credit totalling £47,070.81.
The offence was allegedly committed at the same addresses.
Tribe made no plea during her appearance at court this week and was granted bail by Sheriff Hughes, with the case continued for further examination.
A spokeswoman for Dundee City Council said: “It would be inappropriate to comment on an ongoing case.”
