Thomas Simpson, 41, of Finavon Place, had sentence deferred for six months for him to make repayments to Dundee City Council after he admitted benefit fraud.
Simpson had previously admitted that between September 30 and October 18 2015, at Finavon Place, he obtained housing benefit of £3,892 he was not entitled to by failing to inform the local authority that his partner was living with him.
The court was told Simpson had been making payments towards the outstanding debt and wished to continue to repay the money.
Sheriff Alastair Brown deferred sentence until July 25 and he was ordered to be of good behaviour while continuing to make repayment of the debt to the council.
