A pervert who groomed two underage Tayside girls, sending them explicit messages and having explicit conversations via their mobile phones, has been jailed for 18 months.
Ross Jameson, 35, of Firhill Crescent in Edinburgh, was told by Sheriff Alastair Brown: “Children under 16 are off limits sexually, full stop.”
Jameson targeted the girls, who lived in Dundee and Arbroath, between 2015 and 2016.
He also admitted possessing indecent images or pseudo images on his Toshiba laptop between September 7 2010 and June 11 2016, at Firhill Crescent, Edinburgh, or elsewhere unknown.
The laptop and his HTC mobile phone held a total of 162 indecent images.
Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin said Jameson, a purchase ledger analyst at Skyscanner, has no previous convictions.
She told the court the first complainer was a schoolgirl at the time of the offence. They exchanged a number of sexual messages and Jameson gave his personal details, stating he was 32 and lived in Edinburgh.
In 2017, the complainer’s sister became suspicious of her sister’s secretive behaviour and decided to check her phone.
She discovered explicit material and reported this to her parents.
A police search of Jameson’s home address yielded a mobile phone and laptop and it appeared the accused was fully aware the child was under 16.
Officers also found explicit messages had been exchanged with another underage female.
She had exchanged sexually explicit messages with a number of people through a chat group called “Meow.”
Fiscal Gilmartin said on her profile her age was given as being under 16 and there were photos of her.
