A child abuser’s hidden victim was found after police raided his Dundee home looking for indecent images and found sex chats in which he admitted the horror attack.
Douglas Latto’s victim had kept quiet for more than five years and may never have revealed the depraved incident had officers not found chat logs on the 25-year-old’s computer.
Police raided his Dundee home last November on suspicion he was in possession of indecent images of children.
Officers found images but also an online confession by Latto of a sex act committed towards the child.
Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told Dundee Sheriff Court about 300 indecent images were found on Latto’s computer.
She said: “In the course of the investigation, they came across chat logs in which he stated he had abused the complainer in this charge.”
Latto, of Park Avenue, pleaded guilty on indictment to possessing indecent images of children between January 26 2010 and November 12 2016 and using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards a child at an address in north-east Fife between January 2010 and July 2011.
Solicitor Anika Jethwa said: “He knew what he was doing was wrong and that he needed some help.
“He’s been seeing a psychotherapist for several months now.
“His position was he was sent a lot of these images and he deleted many without viewing them.
“Clearly the lewd and libidinous charge is a serious matter.
“That was a one-off incident.”
Sheriff Alastair Carmichael deferred sentence until January 18 for social work background reports.
Latto was placed on the sex offenders register in the interim and released on bail.
