A man has pleaded guilty to shoplifting and assaulting a police officer.
Scott Lowden, 31, of Balmuir Road, admitted that on December 7, at Tesco Express in Strathmartine Road, he stole a quantity of meat products and in Strathmartine Road, he assaulted PC David Scott by attempting to spit on him.
Solicitor John Boyle said: “The fact Lowden was under the influence of alcohol and not drugs is something of a miracle, given his previous heroin addiction.
“He got himself off drugs while in prison.”
Sheriff George Way deferred sentence until January and told Lowden he wanted to help him stay off heroin, but that he needed to work with professionals to have any chance of staying out of prison.
