A man who drove while six times the alcohol limit was jailed by Sheriff Scott Pattison.
Mariusoz Suchowieski caused an accident involving another vehicle and was reported to police by a member of the public who witnessed the incident, Dundee Sheriff Court was told.
Suchowieski, 43, of Adamson Court, admitted that on July 2, in Hilltown, he drove carelessly, failed to keep control of his car and collided with another vehicle, causing damage, and that he drove with excess alcohol (135 mics).
The city’s sheriff court heard that after the accident, the accused drove off and was followed by a witness who stopped him and realised Suchowieski was under the influence of alcohol due to his speech being slurred.
Suchowieski was persuaded to return to the scene of the collision, where he said it had been a slight bump with no damage caused.
Solicitor David Duncan said his client’s explanation was that he had been drinking the night before and felt fit to drive the following day.
He said Suchowieski had a previous conviction for drink-driving.
Sheriff Pattison told Suchowieski: “This is a very serious offence — you were six times the limit.
“It gives me no pleasure, but I have to tell you that in the public interest, only a sentence of imprisonment is appropriate here.”
He jailed Suchowieski for seven months and disqualified him from driving for 42 months.
