Robert Gray, 35, of Dudhope Court, had sentence deferred until January 3 for reports and a restriction of liberty assessment.
Gray admitted breaching a community payback order which had been imposed for several offences.
He stole food from Lidl in South Ward Road on October 3 and breached the peace at the store, shouted and swore, behaved in an aggressive manner towards staff, uttered threats of violence and struggled with staff.
He also stole a quantity of cosmetics from Superdrug in Wellgate on November 14, while on bail.
Then on November 24, he stole Christmas decorations and toiletries from Home Bargains, Wellgate, and stole cards, stationery, an ornament and a toy from the Card Factory in Murraygate, while on bail.
Gray further admitted possession of a knife at Tiso, Whitehall Crescent, on the same date, while on two bail orders.
Sheriff Richard McFarlane remanded him in custody.
