Two men appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court accused of assaulting and robbing another man at a homeless hostel.
Steven Mitchell, 29, and Daniel Montague, 27, both of Salvation Army Hostel in Ward Road, appeared in private before Sheriff Derek Reekie on a petition.
Mitchell and Montague are accused of assaulting Andrew Hastings on Saturday at the hostel, repeatedly uttering threats of violence, demanding money and drugs, refusing to leave his room when requested to do so, locking the door and preventing him from leaving, repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body, placing him in a head lock, pulling him on to a bed and compressing his neck, restricting his breathing and robbing him of a pen knife and a full wrap containing heroin.
Neither made any plea and both were remanded in custody while the case was continued for further examination.
