A pervert who deliberately groomed two underage Tayside girls, sending them explicit messages, faces a “significant prison sentence”.
Ross Jameson, 34, of Firhill Crescent in Edinburgh, was remanded in custody at Dundee Sheriff Court by Sheriff Alastair Brown, who told him: “Children under 16 are off-limits sexually, full stop.”
Jameson targeted the girls, from Dundee and Arbroath, between 2015 and 2016.
He also possessed indecent images or pseudo images on his laptop between September 2010 and June 2016 at his home or elsewhere.
The laptop and mobile phone held a total of 162 indecent images and 58 movies.
Depute fiscal Charmaine Gilmartin said Jameson, a purchase ledger analyst who did some work for Skyscanner, has no previous convictions. She told the court the first complainer, who is still attending school, was not known to Jameson prior to the offence.
She said: “During the initial stages the complainer was communicating with males who identified themselves as Stewart and Ross Jameson. Both profiles are believed to be used by the accused.”
The girl and “Stewart” began communicating through a private chatroom before the chat became sexual, which continued for about two months. They kept in touch via mobile phone.
Jameson continued the charade by telling the girl she was now communicating with Stewart’s cousin Ross.
Police were eventually contacted when explicit material was found on the girl’s phone by family members.
A search of Jameson’s home yielded the phone and laptop, and it appeared he was fully aware that the girl was under 16. Messages to another girl were also found. She was traced and it was found she had exchanged messages with a number of people.
On her profile her age had been given as 13 and there were photos of her.
Jameson admitted possessing indecent images and charges under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act.
He was remanded in custody ahead of reports being prepared and warned by Sheriff Brown he faced a lengthy spell behind bars.
He will return to court for sentencing in December.
A Skyscanner spokeswoman said: “Ross Jameson is not a Skyscanner employee and never was one.
“Ross Jameson was a temp worker who was never employed directly by Skyscanner but through an agency.
“As soon as we were made aware of this we terminated his appointment through that agency.”
