A man charged with having a machete on a Dundee street allegedly stole a moped and broke into four vehicles over the space of two days.
John Duncan, who is of no fixed abode, appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court in private.
Duncan has been charged with a total of 13 offences — including possessing a machete and a lock knife — on October 29 and 30 this year at various locations in the city.
Over the course of the two days the 24-year-old allegedly forced open four motor vehicles, stealing two navigation systems.
On October 29, he is accused of forcing open two vehicles, one on Findhorn Street and the other on Pitkerro Drive.
It is also alleged that on Mossgiel Place he stole a moped.
Duncan is further accused of failing to stop when asked to by police while he was driving the moped on the city’s Pitkerro Road and Kerry-stone Court.
He has also been accused of, on the same day on the same streets, not wearing protective headgear while driving the moped.
The next day he reportedly drove a motor vehicle while he was disqualified from driving and allegedly drove the vehicle without having insurance.
He also allegedly had a blade — namely a lock knife — on a grass area between Pitkerro Drive and Alloway Terrace.
Court papers also allege Duncan had a machete on Pitkerro Drive, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority.
He also allegedly possessed a controlled drug — namely heroin — at Police Scotland’s Bell Street headquarters.
All the offences were allegedly committed while Duncan was out on bail, which was granted on June 27.
Duncan made no plea during his appearance at the court.
The case was continued and Duncan was remanded in custody meantime.
