A man has been charged with breaking into several businesses in Broughty Ferry over a single night.
Ian Stewart, 42, appeared in private at Dundee Sheriff Court to face a series of charges related to alleged crimes earlier this month.
Stewart, of no fixed abode, appeared in relation to a petition in front of Sheriff Simon Collins.
It’s claimed that Stewart attempted to break in to the Iced Gems cafe in Gray Street with intent to steal.
He is further accused of breaking into the Beauty Within salon in Brook Street, where he is alleged to have stolen £200 in cash, moisturiser and a key.
He faces a further charge of breaking into Empire State Coffee, also in Brook Street, and stealing £172 and two packets of crisps.
Prosecutors also claim he then moved on to break into the Royal Arch pub in Brook Street with intent to steal.
All of the offences are alleged to have taken place some time over September 6-7, while Stewart was on bail.
Meanwhile, Stewart also faces a housebreaking charge in Perth.
It’s alleged he broke into a house occupied by Paulina Adamczk and Lukasz Kmieciak in South Methven Street on September 11 and stole cash, a mobile phone, a PlayStation 4 games console, a tablet, a laptop, a gold-plated watch, a silver bracelet watch and 10 costume necklaces, also while on bail.
Stewart made no plea or declaration during a brief hearing and the case was fully committed for trial.
He was remanded in custody meantime.
