A drug addict carried a knife in Dundee with the aim of getting himself arrested.
Robert Innes, 29, a prisoner at Perth, admitted possessing a knife in Arthurstone Terrace on July 19 this year.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson told Dundee Sheriff Court police received an anonymous call saying a male was walking along the street when he dropped a knife on the ground before picking it up and putting it in his pocket.
Police arrived and traced the accused, finding a small kitchen knife with a two to three-inch blade in his trouser pocket.
Solicitor David Sinclair said Innes was looking to get arrested and be sentenced to custody in order to address his drug addiction.
Sentence was deferred until October 3 for a social work report and a restriction of liberty assessment. Innes was granted bail.
