Dundee man attacked girlfriend after she accused him of taking drugs

A man attacked his then-girlfriend after she accused him of taking drugs.
Alan Burns, 21, of Fintryside, was arrested on August 19 following the assault on Natasha Lewis.
Burns admitted at Dundee Sheriff Court that, at an address in Leith Walk, he assaulted Ms Lewis by pushing her on the body, causing her to fall to the ground.
Depute fiscal Trina Sinclair told the court that both Burns and Ms Lewis had been on separate nights out and when she returned to their home she found Burns asleep in their bed.
She said Ms Lewis could tell he was under the influence of something and asked him if he had been taking drugs.
He said he had been and she told him the relationship was over, after which he swore and called her a “slag” and pushed her, causing her to fall to the ground.
Police were called and Burns was detained.
Solicitor Erica Watson said Burns did not take drugs and never had, he didn’t smoke and rarely drank alcohol.
However, she conceded that it was his second such offence in a relatively short period.
Sheriff Pino Di Emedio deferred sentence for reports until September 27.
