A man is accused of breaking into nine cars across Dundee and stealing various items — then carrying out an £835 raid on a barbers.
Jason Fitchet, 42, of no fixed abode, appeared on petition at the sheriff court over alleged break-ins in the Menzieshill, Lochee, Charleston and Blackness Road areas of the city.
It’s alleged he forced open a lockfast vehicle in Yarrow Terrace between August 3-4 and stole a satellite navigation device.
It’s also alleged that on August 4 or 5 he broke into cars in Elmwood Drive and Dickson Avenue, stealing a sat nav and house keys, and a dash cam, sunglasses, power inverter, car radio, iPod, cap with headtorch, digital timer, telescope and the screen of a rear camera.
He is further alleged to have targeted a vehicle in Dunholm Road between August 4-5, stealing two multi-tools and a packet of baby wipes.
Prosecutors also allege he broke into a car in Anfield Row between August 5-6 and stole a car jack.
Fitchet is further accused of forcing open a car in Corso Street with intent to steal between August 5-6. He was further said to have forced open a car in Anfield Row with intent to steal, between August 6-7.
On the same dates, prosecutors allege he broke into a vehicle in Abbotsford Place and stole a car jack. He is further alleged to have targeted a car in Anfield Road, on the same dates, stealing a wallet, an RBS card, an identity card, a gym card and a library card.
Fitchet is also charged with breaking into the Day After Bakery, occupied by June Fullarton, in Blackness Road, with intent to steal, between August 5-8.
He is further charged with breaking into The Barber Lounge — owned by Alan Pochen — in Blackness Road on August 7 and stealing £835 in cash.
A final charge states that Fitchet had a pair of scissors with him, without reasonable excuse or lawful authority, in City Road on August 22.
During a private appearance in court, Fitchet made no plea or declaration, and the case was fully committed.
