A former Dundee SNP councillor will stand trial after being accused of sending Islamophobic text messages to a Muslim colleague.
Craig Melville, 37, of Marlee Road, denies a charge of sending text messages containing derogatory remarks about Muslims.
Melville denies that between November 13 and 15 2015, at Marlee Road and elsewhere, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner.
He allegedly committed the offence by sending a number of text messages to Nadia El-Nakla, which contained threatening, abusive and derogatory remarks regarding Muslims.
He will stand trial on October 19 at Dundee Sheriff Court.
