Two men have appeared in court over the alleged theft of a car at a petrol filling station in Dundee.
The duo were arrested after a man’s car was allegedly taken as he went to fill up at Tesco on Riverside Drive.
Onlookers at the time claimed that the man had been told he had a flat tyre, and when he went to check his vehicle, it was taken.
After the matter was reported to police, officers arrested two men — who made separate appearances in court over the matter.
Stewart Davie, 38, of the city’s Lily Walker Centre, and Darren Ross, 36, of Tullideph Street, will both stand trial later this year.
Both men are accused of stealing the car at the petrol filling station on Monday.
Ross also faces a separate charge of driving the vehicle while he was disqualified.
He is further accused of not having a valid insurance policy for the car.
And Ross is also alleged to have driven the vehicle dangerously, and repeatedly reversed at excessive speed for the road conditions, before colliding with another vehicle and damaging it.
The pair are due to return to court on July 20 to stand trial over the allegations.
An intermediate diet will be held on July 6.
A police spokesman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that two people have been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged theft of a car from the petrol filling station at Riverside Drive, Dundee.
“A 38-year-old man was arrested on June 12 and appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court, and a 36-year-old man was arrested on June 13 after further inquiries were made, and also appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court.”
A spokesman for Tesco said the supermarket chain was assisting police with their investigation.
Staff at the filling station said they were unable to comment.
Eyewitnesses said that they saw a black Ford Focus ST being driven out of the station’s entrance at the time.
