A pensioner was caught driving a car while more than five times the legal alcohol limit.
At Dundee Sheriff Court, Brian Middleton, 68, of Wood Loan, Longforgan, admitted that he drove a car in Blackness Avenue, Dundee, and other public places on April 16, after consuming alcohol.
The proportion of alcohol in Middleton’s system was registered at 117mics, which exceeded the legal limit of 22mics per 100ml of breath.
Sheriff Collins fined Middleton £1,200, which was discounted from £1,500 because of his guilty plea.
He was also banned from holding a driving licence for four years, with the ban discounted from five years.
Middleton agreed to pay the fine at a rate of £100 per month.
