A motorbike rider overtook a line of traffic at speed, then crashed into the back of a vehicle as he attempted to turn right before hitting a tree.
Craig Montague, 23, of Balgowan Avenue, was fined £300 and issued with four penalty points.
Montague admitted a charge of driving a motorbike without due care and attention on Old Glamis Road at its junction with Melfort Place on April 5.
He committed the offence by driving at excessive speed and overtaking a line of slower moving vehicles.
He then failed to reduce his speed and, having indicated to turn right, he crashed into the vehicle in front in the process of turning, losing control of his motorbike and colliding with a tree.
The accident resulted in both vehicles being damaged and caused injury to Montague.
At the time, one woman who lives in the area said: “There were six police cars, ambulances and lots of flashing lights.
“Police told me there had been an accident and refused to let me drive home.
“I had to park up and walk half-a-mile home. I saw a wheel on the grass.
“The ambulance was on the scene for an hour and they were treating someone.”
