A man went on a jealous rampage at his ex’s house — leaving behind a trail of destruction including smashed windows and a broken TV.
Dale Pearson, 24, of Strathmartine Road, broke down Lisa Wojciechowski’s front door and shattered her living room and bedroom windows after finding out she was on holiday with one of his friends.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard the couple had been in a long-term relationship, which ended a short time before he targeted Miss Wojciechowski’s home in Monifieth Road — which she shared with her parents, Renata and Francis Wojciechowski.
Fiscal depute John Adams said: “The accused found out Lisa and his friend were on holiday together and took umbrage to that.
“He messaged Lisa’s dad saying, ‘I’m absolutely devastated, all I can think about is killing him’.
“The next morning, he messaged Lisa and said, ‘You need to get home. Book your flights now and check your home’.”
Mrs Wojciechowski then discovered £2,800 of damage in her house.
The fiscal continued: “The front door was completely destroyed, hanging off its hinges and the glass was obliterated.
“The accused’s headphones were lying nearby and there were blood splatters around the door which were later found to match the accused.
“In the living room three double panes of glass windows had been entirely smashed and a 42-inch TV was overturned and the screen smashed.
“Another window in the bedroom was also damaged.”
Pearson’s solicitor Theo Finlay said his client and Miss Wojciechowski “still had feelings for each other” when he saw pictures on Facebook of her on holiday with his friend.
Mr Finlay added: “He felt betrayed by this friend and was overcome with an irrational rage which he took out on her rather than on his friend.”
Pearson admitted sending threatening and obscene messages to Miss Wojciechowski and her parents at a property in Drumlanrig Drive on July 15 last year — and causing the damage on the same date.
He was ordered to do 250 hours of unpaid work in the community, placed under eight months’ supervision and ordered to pay a total of £500 in compensation.
