A Dundee woman stormed into a city flat and bit a partygoer’s ear.
Shaunie Nelson, 22, of Lorimer Street, was arguing with a friend in Reform Street on November 7 last year when she became aware of noises coming from a flat above that was having a party.
She entered the flat and assaulted Adam Gray, who required treatment at accident and emergency the next day.
Fiscal depute Sue Ruta told Dundee Sheriff Court that Mr Gray lives at the block of flats with two friends.
At 9.30pm on the night in question, a party was taking place at the property and “a number” of people were there.
Ms Ruta said: “One of the people at the party became aware of the accused, who was having an argument with a male in Reform Street.
“The male became angry and began gesturing at the flats.
“Neighbours received a call on the intercom and the accused asked to be allowed into the block.
“She was allowed in. The accused and the male entered.
“The accused was then trying to get into the flat.
“Two people moved the accused from the area and they shut the door of the flat.
“There was an altercation in the landing area — the accused was arguing with the male.
“People went out to see what was happening and at this point the accused gestured at Gray, appearing very angry.”
Nelson tried several doors within the flat, saying: “I know you are in there, open the door.” She then grabbed Mr Gray by his beard, moved her head towards his and bit his left ear.
Nelson admitted assaulting Mr Gray to his injury.
Defending, solicitor Craig Scott, said: “Ms Nelson has a significant background of mental health problems.
“She reports that she was out with a friend and was having an argument with the male.
“Thereafter, she heard noises from above which she perceived to be directed to her. She then moved towards the building where the noises came from.
“While she has little recollection, she does recall having a debate with some of the individuals and she believed they were almost goading her.”
Sheriff Lorna Drummond deferred sentence to December 15.
