A woman caught with knuckle dusters in public has been fined at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Roxanne Alcorn admitted that on June 2, at Scott Court, Dundee, she had without reasonable excuse an offensive weapon, namely two knuckle dusters.
The court heard that Alcorn, 21, of Charleston Drive, had been detained after reports were made to the police by a member of the public of a drunk female lying in the street.
Prosecuting, fiscal Stewart Duncan said: “The accused was later traced with two others, in a car park near the locus and found to be highly intoxicated.
“During a search, officers discovered two knuckle dusters in her handbag.
“She had no way of explaining why she had them and was arrested for having an offensive weapon in a public place.”
Defending, Jim Caird told the court Alcorn had hosted a party the day before the incident.
He said she had “come across” the knuckle dusters while tidying up, and had put them in her handbag with a view to disposing of them, but later forgot to do so.
Sentencing Alcorn, Sheriff Lorna Drummond said: “This is a relatively serious matter.
“I’ve heard your explanation but you had no justification for having knuckle dusters in a public place.
“However, given your limited criminal record, I will deal with this by a financial penalty.”
Alcorn was fined £240 by Sheriff Drummond.
