An offshore worker who threw a remote control at his partner and assaulted her had sentence deferred at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Stephen Cook, 34, of Mintlaw Park, admitted that, on August 12 this year, he behaved in a threatening or abusive manner, by shouting, swearing and seizing a phone from Amanda McGuire.
He also admitted assaulting Ms McGuire by throwing a remote control at her, seizing her by the body and pulling her across the ground by the body, pinning her to the sofa and pushing his head against hers, all to her injury.
The court heard Cook had been in a relationship with Ms McGuire for nine years when the offence happened.
He had come into the home they share on Mintlaw Park on the evening of August 12, under the influence of alcohol, and a row had broken out.
Prosecuting, fiscal depute John Adams told the court Cook had thrown the remote control at Ms McGuire, who had to put her hand up to stop it hitting her in the face.
He then seized her, pinning her left hand behind her back, and caused a bruise on her bicep.
Police were called and Cook was subsequently arrested and charged. Sheriff Alastair Carmichael noted that Cook had pled guilty at the first opportunity.
He deferred sentence until January 25 for Cook to be of good behaviour.
