A woman downed a litre bottle of vodka then bit a chunk out of her boyfriend’s lip on a Dundee street.
Stacey Reid, 24, left her boyfriend Ross Gourlay bleeding profusely from the mouth after she launched the attack at West Marketgait.
She was quickly arrested and then bit PC Robert Cowan on the leg, tearing his trousers, and spat on him.
Fiscal depute Sue Ruta told the court that Reid, of Arklay Terrace, had been in a relationship with Mr Gourlay for two years prior to the offence.
The fiscal said: “The couple had been out drinking together when an argument broke out between them, around 9.45pm, as they walked to the city centre.
“The complainer put his arms out gesturing for a kiss. When their lips met the accused bit a significant chunk out of his lip, causing it to bleed profusely.”
Mr Gourlay went into Tesco to ask for something to curb the bleeding and Reid followed him, still acting aggressively.
A witness called police and an ambulance, as Mr Gourlay had part of his lower lip missing.
When police arrived Reid was immediately aggressive towards them.
The fiscal said: “As PC Cowan went to take her details, the accused bent over and spat on him with saliva landing on his leg.
“She was arrested and, as she was being walked over to a police vehicle, she bent down and bit PC Cowan on his right leg.
“His trousers were torn and her teeth made contact with his skin, but the skin was not broken.”
Solicitor Laura O’Brien, defending, told the court Reid was going through a “difficult” period in her life where “matters where getting on top of her”.
Miss O’Brien said: “She was drinking a considerable amount — around a litre bottle of vodka before going out to socialise.
“She has no recollection of events until she woke up later that evening in Bell Street.”
The court heard the couple are still together and Mr Gourlay has been left with a permanent scar on his lip.
Reid admitted assaulting Mr Gourlay to his injury, and two charges of assaulting PC Cowan, all at West Marketgait, on July 1.
She was ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work in the community within a four-month period and placed under supervision for a year.
