The woman who was found seriously injured in St Andrews has died in hospital, prompting police to say they are now treating the case as murder.
Police Scotland say 50-year-old Elizabeth Bowe was involved in a serious incident at Bobby Jones Place and was pronounced dead at 12pm today at Ninewells Hospital.
She had been discovered on Saturday.
Detective Inspector Rory Hamilton said: “This is a tragic loss and our thoughts and condolences are with Elizabeth’s loved ones.
“This investigation is now being treated as a murder enquiry and it will continue to be led by detectives from the Major Investigations Team.
“A 51-year-old man has been arrested and appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday in connection with the incident.
“He has been remanded to custody.”
