A Dundee woman fraudulently claimed more than £56,000 of benefits.
Helen Habblett, 51, of Bellisle Drive, repeatedly lied to benefit offices over a four-year period.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard Habblett told them she was a single parent on at least five occasions.
In reality she was living with her partner of 16 years, who is employed by a number of building agents.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said: “During interviews she still said she was not in a relationship but he was staying with her for up to five nights a week.
“In 2003 the accused claimed child and working tax credit and income support while living with her husband.
“In November 2009 she phoned the HMRC and said they had separated and she lived with only her children. She confirmed this was her status again in 2011 and in 2013.
“Confidential information was received in September 2010 that the couple were still in a relationship and continued to live together. An examination of bank accounts, employment records, social media and other documents were found to support this.”
Officers also monitored Habblett’s home.
Habblett admitted fraudulently claiming £48,792.75 worth of working and child tax credit between September 15 2010 and March 28 2014, at her home address. And she admitted fraudulently claiming £7,603.50 worth of income support, between September 15 2010 and November 6 2012, also at her home address.
Habblett admitted committing the offences by declaring she was a single parent residing with only her children. Jim Caird, defending, told the court Habblett had “never been in trouble before”.
Sentence was deferred until October 11.
