A boozy man — who forced his way into his neighbour’s flat thinking it was his own — has been jailed for eight months.
Julian Coker, 32, of Blackness Road, was locked up at Dundee Sheriff Court.
Coker admitted damaging the property of another by forcing open a front door, causing the lock to be damaged, at a property on Blackness Road, on Wednesday.
He further admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by forcing open the door of a flat, entering a flat, lying down and falling asleep, at the same location and on the same date.
The Dundee court heard Coker lives in a neighbouring flat to the scene of the crime.
He had been out drinking and thought it was his own flat.
Occupants sleeping within the flat were not awoken by the noise of the door being forced open.
However, another neighbour was and they then contacted the police.
Coker was traced within the Dundee flat where he was sleeping.
Coker further admitted a third charge of assaulting James Begg by seizing him by the throat, at the Pillars Bar, Crichton Street,on September 8 last year.
Emergency services were called to the incident in Blackness Road at 7.20am on Wednesday.
Ambulance crews and police were still in attendance on the street at 9am.
One neighbour, who did not wish to be named, today told the Tele: “I just saw the two police cars and two ambulances outside on Wednesday at about 8am.
“I did not know what had happened but when I looked out of the window I saw him getting put in the back of the van.”
Another resident, who lives in the close, said: “I saw an ambulance and also two police cars outside the close at around 8.10am.”
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said that they attended Blackness Road on Wednesday following a “disturbance” at a flat.
