Police descended on a Dundee multi after a man allegedly attacked his partner with a screwdriver.
Nearly a dozen police officers swooped on the Whorterbank block after the alleged attack on Wednesday.
At Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday, David Boyd, 48, of Ancrum Court, Whorterbank, denied one charge of domestic assault.
Boyd is charged with assaulting his partner Lily McClukas, by striking her on the body with a screwdriver to her injury.
The incident allegedly took place at his home.
Boyd appeared from custody for today’s hearing.
Neighbours living near Ancrum Court, in the Lochee area of Dundee, told how five police cars and two vans swooped at around 8pm on Wednesday.
Children stopped playing football nearby and residents in surrounding properties watched on as 11 officers ran inside Ancrum Court.
Sarah Johnston, 25, said: “All I saw was five police cars and two police vans and the officers took a man out of the multis.
“It must have happened at about 8pm and they put him in the back of the van and just started to leave.
“They were not here very long at all.
“There were actually a lot of kids watching on as well.”
Another man added: “My partner saw the police and they put a guy in the back of the van.”
One woman said: “I think he was on the same floor as me.”
Another neighbour said most residents were watching from their windows.
He said: “I saw two police vans and 11 officers jump out of them and run into the multi.
“All they did was arrest one guy. There was kids playing football and they actually stopped to watch what was happening.
“People were sitting at their windows having a cup of tea and watching what was going on.”
Lochee councillor Tom Ferguson said: “It is reassuring to see the fast response from police.”
