A Dundee teenager took a knife out of his pocket and threatened to cut a girl’s throat — before pushing her down some stairs, punching and kicking her.
Ryan Finlayson, 18, of Badenoch Place, also stabbed a door after making the threat to the girl in a Dundee flat, the city’s sheriff court heard.
The incident happened after the girl had asked Finlayson to leave and he refused, pulling a knife out of his pocket.
Finlayson told her he was going to “cut her throat” before going to the front door and stabbing it with the knife.
He then left the flat, putting the knife in his pocket, and turned and spat on the front door.
Finlayson kicked a window in the common close, causing it to smash, and the girl went into the close to get him to leave.
Fiscal depute Eilidh Robertson said: “He pushed her on the body, causing her to fall down four or five stairs.
“The noise was heard by a downstairs neighbour.
“The neighbour asked the accused to leave and told the complainer to phone police.”
The neighbour and a witness grabbed Finlayson and took him out of the close.
The girl went into the neighbour’s flat to wait for the police.
Finlayson returned moments later and the girl went into the close to try to persuade him to leave the area, but he began shouting at her.
The fiscal continued: “The accused again kicked the same window in the close then kicked the complainer on the leg around 10 times and punched her on the face.
“He then grabbed a plant pot in the close and threw it against the wall, causing it to smash.”
Eventually a witness managed to remove Finlayson from the close and police arrived shortly after.
Officers found the area in a state of disarray and stab marks and saliva on the door of one of the flats.
Finlayson was traced outside the block of flats. He admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by shouting and swearing at a girl, refusing to leave a flat on Baxter Park Terrace, striking a door with a knife, spitting on a door, and smashing a plant pot and a window, on June 14 last year.
And he admitted assaulting the same girl by repeatedly kicking her on the body, presenting a knife at her, threatening her with violence, punching her on the head and pushing her down a flight of stairs, on the same date and location.
Solicitor John Boyle, defending, said he would save mitigation until reports were available.
Sheriff Tom Hughes deferred sentencing until April 29 for reports and assessments.
