Abuser jailed for attacks on children

A child abuser was today sentenced to four-and-a-half years in prison as his weeping victims looked on in court.

Stewart King, 56, of Forres Avenue, Dundee, subjected three young children to horrific physical abuse before going on to sexually assault two children.

One child was punched, kicked and had objects thrown at them. The second victim was punched and kicked on the head and body and kicked on the legs.

In horrifying evidence the victim told of being sexually assaulted on various occasions by King. And the third victim was grabbed, pushed against a wall, punched on the head and body and kicked on the legs over the course of three-and-a-half years of abuse.

King denied three charges of assault to injury, one under the Sexual Offences (Scotland) Act and one of indecent assault.

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC jailed King for four-and-a-half years and placed him on the sex offenders register for life.

She said: “You have been convicted by the jury of five charges, serious charges of sexual and violent offences against children.

“You violently assaulted three children.

“These are very serious charges and they warrant custody, and that’s the only appropriate sentence.”
