A man who stole sex toys from a city flat has been jailed for 15 months.
Charles Jamieson, 35, admitted at Dundee Sheriff Court that he stole adult items from a property on Constitution Street.
The court heard he also took a TV, keys, guitar plectrum and a plastic knife from the flat on December 5 last year.
When police arrived at Jamieson’s flat, the stolen sex toys were “strewn” across his living room.
Fiscal depute Vicki Bell said the home occupier left her flat secured at 10pm on December 3.
Two days later a neighbour noticed the flat’s front door was ajar.
The fiscal said: “At 9pm the neighbour saw the accused coming out of the locus carrying a TV concealed under a duvet.
“He asked the accused what he was doing and he said he was helping someone move out. The neighbour was not satisfied with this explanation and contacted police.”
Police arrived and there was no trace of Jamieson.
The home occupier was contacted and later reported a number of items stolen.
On December 8, police received information that Jamieson had been seen in possession of a bag of sex toys.
Officers arrived at his home and saw the items within his flat.
He told police he had been contacted by another male who offered him money to help him “remove” the items.
Solicitor Paul Parker Smith, defending, said: “The sex toys and other items were in full view strewn across the living room. The officers and Mr Jamieson seemed to have been having a bit of a joke about it. He says he was given the items in exchange for helping remove other items.”
Jamieson, a prisoner at Perth, admitted that he stole a television worth £180, a quantity of adult toys, keys, a guitar plectrum and a plastic knife from the flat.
Sheriff Alastair Brown said: “When you go into someone’s home you create feelings of violation and insecurity.
“In this case it was made even worse by the personal nature of some of what you took.”
